A Look at Freedmen's Suffrage in Virginia Through Alexandria's Eyes.
This exhibit is a digital representation of my primary source research that contributed to my master's thesis while a Graduate student at George Mason University from 2018-2020 throughout the class HIST 787: War and Society during Fall 2019.
The thesis is entitled "A Look at Freedmen's Suffrage in Virginia Through Alexandria's Eyes. I researched at various research repositories such as the Local History/Special Collections archives within the Kate Waller Barrett Library, a branch of the Alexandria Public Library in Alexandria, VA, the Library of Congress, and the National Archives located within Washington D.C. Subsequent research and secondary source material from Fenwick Library, a division of University Libraries at George Mason University in Fairfax, VA.
Special thanks to the staff of the Office of Historic Alexandria, the staff of the Kate Waller Barnett Branch of the Alexandria Library, the Special Collections and Resources Services at George Mason University Fenwick Library, and the History Department of George Mason University within the College of Humanities and Social Sciences.
